An Apprenticeship is a great way to start your career and you will be fully supported by the employer and the training provider for every step of your learning.
What is an apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is earning while you are learning. You will gain knowledge and experience of working in an organisation and you will gain qualifications in your chosen apprenticeship.
There are over 700 apprenticeships available. This ranges from business administration to becoming a solicitor. An apprenticeship generally lasts over 12 months but can last 6 years depending on the programme. As an apprentice, you will be employed, you will be paid a wage and you will receive holiday pay and other staff benefits eg. Sick leave, pension.
If you don’t have the grades C/grade 4 in Maths or English, then don’t worry because as part of your apprenticeship, you will be supported in achieving functional skills in these areas.
What does an apprenticeship look like at Bristol City Council
At Bristol City Council, we believe in rewarding our apprentices fairly for a hard days work and we pay the Living Wage Foundation Rate. This is £9.50 per hour, if over 18 years and £7.60 per hour if under 18 years.
