Raising Aspirations about Apprenticeships
On 4th & 5th February 2020 On Site Bristol Apprenticeships in partnership with Taylor Wimpey will attend the annual 2 day Raising Aspirations Careers Event at UWE. The event, organised by Cabot Learning Federation is now in its 8th year and offers a combination of high quality information advice and guidance for thirteen and fourteen year old students in year 9.
Professionals from industry and education will come together to offer inspiring talks, workshops and engaging activities to bring the world of work and education together.
This year On Site Bristol and Taylor Wimpey through a series of workshops will be giving students the opportunity to have a go at bricklaying and try their hand at carpentry by building doors and roof trusses supported by current On Site Bristol apprentices.
They will also give students an overview of the different routes into construction and the skills they could develop from undertaking an apprenticeship in Bricklaying, Plastering, Painting & Decorating, Bench Joinery, Carpentry, Plumbing and Electrical.
For year 9 this is a critical point for young people as it is the time they must start to make serious decisions about who they would like to be, what they want to achieve in their lives and what they need to do to get there. This conference is all about raising students’ aspirations and raising awareness of the opportunities that are open to them at this exciting stage.
Last year over 2,000 students attended the Raising Aspirations Event 2019.
